West Gippsland Progress Association Current Projects
Food & Tourism Strategy – 2026
West Gippsland is well positioned to attract visitors from across Victoria, with strong food and tourism assets including farm gates, local produce, cellar doors, and food-focused small businesses. The railway towns of Nar Nar Goon, Garfield, Tynong and Bunyip continue to offer accessible, food-led visitor experiences.
Building on the earlier Food & Tourism Strategy, WGPA’s focus is now on delivering practical outcomes. This includes working with Destination Gippsland, supporting the Eat & Drink guide, maintaining and distributing the West Gippsland Food Touring Map, and contributing to targeted marketing activities that promote local operators and experiences.
This work supports local farmers and small businesses while strengthening West Gippsland’s profile as a food and tourism destination, and provides a foundation for future tourism opportunities across the region.
To develop a network and partnerships for businesses within our local community in the West Gippsland region, specially focussing on the railway townships between Nar Nar Goon and Bunyip. Engage local businesses and key community organisations to develop and execute plans which enhance the local economy. Provide a forum that enhances small business development and mentoring opportunities.
— WGPA Mission
